for the better part of a week. i was living more on nyquil than nog this season that is for sure. barely been on a bike. it’s freaking cold out.

start spring training officially on saturday.

chicago can eat it. even if i wanted to ride it would be in ten layers and sliding all over the place. ugh. the moving plans are in the works.

I have got to tel youl, I used to love it here. Seriously. Chicago has been a great learning experience and been well worth the time. However, ever since I returned from Curacao my need to be here has pretty much gone out the window.

So, for various reasons I have stayed here (bike team, bands, Carla, convenience, etc.) Those are all the wrong reasons if you aren’t really happy with the logistics of the place you live.

What it comes down to is winter. I used to just tolerate it. Now? I hate it. Loathe, if you will. I have been riding in this stuff for years now. I, frankly, am going to lose it on someone if I have to stay here through another one. So, in order to keep my out of jail or u-locking some blue collar cooler than now hipster, the plans to leave have begun.

There have been two choices running around my head for place to move, San Diego and Islamorada, FL. I just spent four days in San Diego. I have been to the Florida Keys many times. I have to say after spending some time in San Diego that my decisions has turned toward Southern California. Weather, biking, velodrome, cost of living, proximity to diving and Asia have all contributed to this place being the place to hang my hat for a while.

So, I am getting the plans together. Consolidating possessions has been the first order of business. Well, getting rid of possessions is a better way to put it. Saving up bank to get there is the next step and that is well in hand at the moment.

Yep, it’s time to go. The when is starting to get cloudy. March? Now? August? This is the hard one. I think figuring that one out is going to be the hardest. Once the holidays are past, plans will be put into action.

With change comes bigger change. Leaving the Facebook status the way it is until I am done moving. I should be using the blog more anyway. The news will be here.

I have to tell you, it was really hard getting on that plane on Sunday. Riding to the loop in 17 degree weather? Well, that just topped it off for me.

I went for a bike ride after working on a server. This was the route as it was a “rest” ride.

The streets were empty. Holidays are the best time to ride, no idiots.

16 races into the season….nothing to report…the northbrook fields are too large to be competitive so, also i was REALLY beat from the previous evening of racing so nothing to report….kenosha on tuesday.

at the major taylor velodrome…last night.

13 races into the season:
24 seconds .03 12th place on a flying lap
4th place in points race,
2nd with 8 points on a ten lap tempo (being pointing the first and second places on each lap)
7th on the last scratch and i was toast

the subterranean night club in Chicago sucks. yes, sucks, blame it on their doormen, that are douche bags.

the debate over the velodrome has started. clueless people have already spoken their minds about it. i think it would be great if we keep all the people running the current velodromes as far from the management of the new one as possible. this needs some fresh perspective and having dealt with Northbrook I think a changing of the guard really needs to happen.

i turned down a job in Sydney Australia last week. the next one that comes my way i am jumping on instantly.

Chicago’s hands-free ordinance went into effect on July 1st, 2005. The Chicago cell-phone law makes it illegal for drivers to talk on cell phones while operating a motor vehicle without a hands-free device.

The law, brought forward by Alderman Burton F. Natarus, is designed to promote safe driving habits within the City of Chicago. The hands-free ordinance brings a $50 fine to drivers that are caught holding a cell phone while driving and up to a $200 fine if there is a accident.
