Every disappearance is a possible quit
Anytime a person disappears from the public eye or the bosom of his or her family, or just evaporates altogether, there is the possibility that a quit has taken place. Naturally, exceptions exist. Clear cases of kidnapping don’t count. But still, even with theses special cases in mind, if the Bureau of Missing Persons was more willing to take quitting into account, they could clear out a few files and stop feelings so bogged down. Of course, it’s hard to say how they would proceed with the file-weeding. Quitters who see fit to disappear do not make themselves available for mystery solving.
