first race…april 6th…san diego velodrome…then a green flash beer

March 31st, 2010 No comments

Frankly, I can’t wait. That back stretch kind of looks over a ravine into Balboa park and is a LITTLE freaky when on the rail.

And after? Beer…

chicago can eat it…

December 15th, 2009 No comments

I have got to tel youl, I used to love it here. Seriously. Chicago has been a great learning experience and been well worth the time. However, ever since I returned from Curacao my need to be here has pretty much gone out the window.

So, for various reasons I have stayed here (bike team, bands, Carla, convenience, etc.) Those are all the wrong reasons if you aren’t really happy with the logistics of the place you live.

What it comes down to is winter. I used to just tolerate it. Now? I hate it. Loathe, if you will. I have been riding in this stuff for years now. I, frankly, am going to lose it on someone if I have to stay here through another one. So, in order to keep my out of jail or u-locking some blue collar cooler than now hipster, the plans to leave have begun.

There have been two choices running around my head for place to move, San Diego and Islamorada, FL. I just spent four days in San Diego. I have been to the Florida Keys many times. I have to say after spending some time in San Diego that my decisions has turned toward Southern California. Weather, biking, velodrome, cost of living, proximity to diving and Asia have all contributed to this place being the place to hang my hat for a while.

So, I am getting the plans together. Consolidating possessions has been the first order of business. Well, getting rid of possessions is a better way to put it. Saving up bank to get there is the next step and that is well in hand at the moment.

Yep, it’s time to go. The when is starting to get cloudy. March? Now? August? This is the hard one. I think figuring that one out is going to be the hardest. Once the holidays are past, plans will be put into action.

With change comes bigger change. Leaving the Facebook status the way it is until I am done moving. I should be using the blog more anyway. The news will be here.

I have to tell you, it was really hard getting on that plane on Sunday. Riding to the loop in 17 degree weather? Well, that just topped it off for me.

Chicago can eat it.

I am in San Diego and loving every minute of it

December 11th, 2009 No comments

I AM loving every minute of it. There is one thing this town is missing and that is a GREAT vegie restaurant, like Green Zebra.

I road my ass off today, remember there are many hills in there:

It was raining and warm. I am really enjoying it here.

whats going on…

November 4th, 2009 No comments

Lets see, been pretty busy with work lately.

I was in Oklahoma last week at Tinker AFB doing an install. Didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted it to, by any means. I certainly would like another crack at that client, we will see what happens.

Sticking with Half Acre Cycling again this year and I am planning the coaching aspect of that right now. Trying to get the legs working better for next season. I am kind of resting now and healing still. I am trying to get some bulk going here too, mmm, whey protein from Hammer.

Laying low on the dating scene.

Trying to get a cheap flight to San Diego in November to scope things out for a possible move next year. No, wait, for a definite move next year. I have been looking at apartments and such. There seems to be a nice selection of places to live and getting around on bike will be pretty nice. I am going to start buttering up my awesome boss at Onward to see if I can work from there. If that happens? Oh baby, no more snow.

I am still working on the leg lump thing. I might have a solution soon.

What else? Changed my sleep pattern for training rides in the morning.

Stilted is at the six song set and holding stage. We STILL haven’t found a singer. This is getting really frustrating.

I went and saw Fu Manchu at Double Door last week with Nicole. Had a blast, good rock.

That’s pretty much where I am at right now…I think.
